Jobe Bellingham has joined his brother Jude in the England squad for the first time but Cole Palmer misses out as Thomas Tuchel named a 25-man group for this month's Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.

Jobe, 21, joined Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland last summer and has featured 12 times for England Under-21s but had never previously been called up to the seniors.

Tuchel explained that his decision to call on Jobe Bellingham was due to a shortage of available midfielders.

"We have a slight issue in central midfield as Alex Scott is not ready, Myles [Lewis-Skelly] who played in all four matches picked up a yellow card and is suspended for the Croatia match, so that leaves us short," Tuchel said.

"Lee Carsley is talking highly of Jobe in these weeks and months, so there's an opportunity to join and learn in the first-team. He's in a good run of form for Borussia Dortmund. So, we have 21 outfield players for the first match and possibly 22 for the second."

Palmer's absence follows past warnings from Tuchel that he "misses too many camps" after he pulled out of the last fixtures due to a minor muscular injury.

The Chelsea midfielder has just 14 caps to his name but has scored five goals in 11 appearances this season including a penalty in last weekend's 2-0 win over Manchester United.

Palmer was also sent off against Tottenham and it appears the 24-year-old's chequered attendance record for England has counted against him.

He has played just three times in the last two years with his last appearance for England coming in March's home defeat to Japan.

Bukayo Saka is out injured while Noni Madueke and Kobbie Mainoo have not been picked.

Declan Rice was recalled after missing the previous squad due to load management. His Arsenal team-mate Ben White is included for the first time since March while Djed Spence is recalled following injury.

Elsewhere, there were call-ups for Fulham's Josh King and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White.

Tuchel said about King: "He was with us [in June] and, like Rio [Ngumoha], made a top impression as a character, as a person and also as a player.

"Now it is just a moment to pick him. He is very flexible, he can train in all four offensive positions and can show he is a good alternative on both wings and also maybe the No. 10 position.

"It's the moment to have a look and reward for him a good start to the season with Fulham.

"It is the moment to push the standout players from the Under-21s, they have a big tournament in the summer but I think it is a good moment to reward them."
