Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs to pay their respects to Jesús de Miguel, the Tenerife player who died on Tuesday.
De Miguel has died after an on-field collision in a match on Monday, his club have announced.
The collision occurred as Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono raced from his goal to challenge De Miguel for the ball in stoppage time of a Spanish second-tier game.
Fans of Tenerife have gathered outside the team's stadium to lay flowers in De Miguel's memory.
Arsenal players gathered in a circle for a moment of silence in tribute to De Miguel, in front of a big screen showing his image, during training before their Champions League match against Slavia Prague.
United, who play Roma on Tuesday night in the Champions League, confirmed that there will be a tribute to De Miguel.
A statement from United read: "The CD Tenerife striker tragically passed away on Tuesday morning, after suffering a serious injury during a Spanish second-division match.
"In his remembrance, a minute's silence will be observed before kick-off at Old Trafford and both teams will wear black armbands for the fixture.
"Respects have also been paid at this afternoon's UEFA Youth League game between our Under-19s and their Roma counterparts.
"Our deepest condolences are with the loved ones of Jesus and everyone connected with CD Tenerife."
All UEFA competition matches this week will be preceded by a moment of silence in tribute to the player.
