Tottenham captain Drew Spence became the Women's Super League all-time appearance record-holder as Spurs secured a dominant 4-1 win at Birmingham on Sunday.
The 34-year-old made an unprecedented 217th appearance to surpass former Chelsea defender Millie Bright's record.
"I've been around for a while," Spence told BBC Sport. "I'm incredibly proud to be able to do that and it's not just a proud moment for me, but also for my family.
"It's [about] all the hard work that I put in throughout the years. When you're younger, you don't really think about these types of accolades.
"It was all about winning trophies. Now it's happened, it's such a massive part of my career and something that I can be proud of to look back on."
Spence has spent her entire career in London, playing at Chelsea for 14 years before making the move up to north London to join Tottenham in 2022.
"I know the sacrifices -- looking after yourself and making sure that you're available all the time," Spence added. "I know how hard it is to keep that motivation for so many seasons."
