Michael Carrick has promised Manchester United fans they will see "a different team" against Bournemouth after the humiliating loss to Como.
Carrick apologised to supporters following the 4-1 defeat in Italy on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old is battling to save his job, but insisted he "trusts" his players to put in a completely different performance when Bournemouth visit Old Trafford on Sunday.
"I definitely trust them, yeah, 100% I trust them," Carrick said.
"It wasn't a very good night at all [against Como] for so many reasons. We all know that. I think that's pretty obvious. I definitely trust them, yeah. I trust them. We'll be a different team on Sunday. We have to be a different team on Sunday."
United have been criticised for a perceived lack of effort in games this season having been out-run by a number of opponents.
Carrick appeared to hint at something similar after the defeat to Como when he responded to criticism of his tactics from Bruno Fernandes by saying: "If you don't run, and you don't run forward, and you don't run back, you aren't going to win."
But asked on Friday whether a lack of running and a reluctance to press was contributing to the poor run of results, Carrick insisted it's not the main reason behind the slump.

"I think you've got to be careful with just saying 'not running,'" he said.
"You don't necessarily need to press to win games of football. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. It's just a thing that gets thrown about.
"So we've got to be a bit careful with that. It's not necessarily just running stats that define football games either.
"We've just got to get back to doing a lot of the things that we were doing last season. We need to get back to being at our best."
