Tottenham outclassed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with a 2-0 win on Saturday that also saw Cole Palmer dismissed.

After a tentative first half, Spurs began to dictate the pace of the game and looked the more likely to score -- and were good value for their advantage when Mike Penders inadvertently punched over his own goal line from a corner.

Cole Palmer received two reckless yellow cards in the space of 10 minutes which saw him sent off for the first time in his career, before a superb Mathys Tel solo goal sealed the points for the visitors.

Here's how it happened.

The Blues had enjoyed an impressive response to their 3-0 defeat at Brentford last month, returning from the international break with a commanding 5-1 victory over Bournemouth before securing a 2-0 win away at Everton last weekend.

Pedro Neto scored both goals at Everton as Chelsea moved onto 13 points from their opening seven league matches, with four wins, one draw and two defeats.

Tonight's visitors went into this as underdogs despite their first win of the campaign against Coventry on Monday. James Maddison opened the scoring on his first competitive start since May 2025, before Coventry's Jack Rudoni levelled shortly after half-time. Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham's advantage with his first goal for the club, before Ben Davies sealed the points.

There was another welcome boost for De Zerbi that day as Dejan Kulusevski made his long-awaited return to competitive action, appearing as a late substitute after 526 days on the sidelines.

Chelsea had thus far enjoyed a dominant recent record against Spurs when this league fixture is played at the Bridge -- with the last Tottenham victory coming in 2018.
