Leboeuf hails Ngumoha after Liverpool's comeback vs. Villarreal (1:22)

Rio Ngumoha has said his performance in Liverpool's 4-3 victory over Villarreal was "one of the best" of his career and said it was a "dream" to receive a standing ovation at Anfield.

Ngumoha registered two assists on Tuesday night as Liverpool came from 2-0 down against Iñigo Pérez's side to maintain their perfect record in the Champions League.

The teenager set up Ronald Araújo on the stroke of half time before putting the ball on a plate for Alexis Mac Allister in the second half, becoming the youngest player in Liverpool's history to assist in the competition.

"It was a top performance from the boys," Ngumoha told Prime Sport after the game. "We were two goals down but the mentality was always there. We knew we were going to win.

"It's up there with one of the best I've played. I enjoyed myself and the team helped me a lot.

"Whenever I get the ball and there's an opportunity to go one-v-one or two-v-one, I believe in myself. I'll just keep going and be ruthless.

Reflecting on playing on the right-hand side, Ngumoha added: "It's helped me a lot in training with the gaffer, the coaching staff and the players.

"We have the best fans in the world and to hear my name chanted is a dream."

Andoni Iraola was full of praise for the forward after the game and has backed him to continue adding new dimensions to his game.

"I think he was coming from a very good game the other day, he had a good second half against Brentford," the Liverpool boss said in his post-match news conference. "Today he didn't have an easy game also because they were demanding him defensively and their left-back was attacking a lot. There was a moment offensively where he was very difficult to stop.

"If we can put Rio in situations one-v-one, he makes plays, he produces things, today the assist for Alexis is a lovely play. He could go down for a penalty but he decides to continue which is a great decision.

"Also endurance-wise he is able to play more and more minutes. We were pushing him a little bit. He was tired but I think he has done a good effort and I'm very happy for him."

Iraola added: "I am happy with his attitude. He is eager to improve the things we think he needs to improve. He is eager to add more things to his game. He has changed sides a lot. He has played a lot on the right lately. He is feeling so comfortable now. He is adding some shots from the left.

"He hasn't scored but he is getting there and if he can add these small things to his game, it will put him in a better position. That's the good thing with Rio. He is only 18, he's still not the full package. He can add things, fortunately for us also.

"I hope he can continue the same way. It is not always going to be like this, there will be ups and downs in the process but I'm happy because he is in a great place."
