Maresca: Manchester City dealt with Anfield 'very well' (1:32)

Liverpool are set to be without Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash with LASK.

All three players missed the Reds' 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday after sustaining injuries during the international break. Isak and Gakpo both had to withdraw from international duty with a thigh injury and an ankle injury respectively while Szoboszlai returned from the Hungary camp with a tight hamstring.

The trio have all failed to recover in time for Wednesday's clash at Raiffeisen Arena and are not part of Liverpool's 23-player travelling party to Austria.

"They [Liverpool's injured trio] are not far, but it is difficult to say right now," Andoni Iraola said in the pre-match news conference on Tuesday. "Any of the three have trained with the group and we are taking it day to day. But I don't know if they will be ready for [games against] Brentford, or Villareal or Brighton. I don't know when they will be ready."

Asked whether other players like Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola can step up in the absence of the injured attackers, Iraola said: "I think that is true, Cody [Gakpo], Alex [Isak] and Dom [Szoboszlai] are top scorers this season because they play more this season and now we don't have them, so we need the other players to give us those numbers.

"We trust that we have the players to play in those positions.

"The injuries are because of the national teams and some were injuries from the last game.

"It is about adapting to the circumstances. Bradley [Barcola] and Florian [Wirtz], they've had good games, bad games this season but we know their level and we are sure they'll give us good performances."

Speaking about Szoboszlai's fitness at the weekend, Iraola said: "Dom came from the national team with tightness, an overload. We put him as a floater in the training and tried to protect him but he was feeling something very small. It's true that now we play four games in 10 days, so it's going to be difficult because we fly to Austria in two days. I think it's going to be difficult to recover any of the players."
