Arsenal's Gabriel ready to take another penalty despite Champions League final miss

Gabriel Magalhães has said he is ready to take another penalty for Arsenal despite his crucial miss in last season's Champions League Final.

Paris Saint-Germain retained Europe's biggest club trophy in May after both Gabriel and Eberechi Eze missed in the shootout at the end of a 1-1 draw in Budapest.

It was the first spot-kick Gabriel had ever taken for Arsenal -- having joined the club in 2020 -- but he vowed he would step up once again if asked in future.

Speaking on Monday ahead of the Gunners' Champions League clash against his former club Lille, Gabriel said: "In the final, anything can happen. We did really well in the Champions League. Of course, if I have another penalty, I'm going to be there to take it.

"My teammates helped me a lot after this. Of course, I was sad, I didn't want to miss a penalty but of course I learn from this and if I have an opportunity, I'm there to take it."

Arsenal have never won the Champions League and PSG defender Marquinhos immediately ran to console his Brazil teammate in the immediate aftermath of Gabriel's miss.

"It was brilliant from him to come to me," Gabriel said. "Of course, he missed a penalty in a World Cup and he had a lot of experience for this moment. He said some words to me and helped me a lot.

"After this, I spoke with him as well and I say thank you because in this moment, it was really difficult. He is one of the players I like a lot, I enjoy to play with him when we're at the national team. I learn a lot with him as well. I say thank you to him because it was a [tough] moment for me."
