Enzo Maresca has said he "trusts the club completely" in his first interview since Manchester City were found guilty of breaking financial rules.

Maresca is preparing his players for the trip to Liverpool on Sunday -- City's first game since the publication of the damning judgement in their case with the Premier League.

The Italian spoke to in-house media on Thursday. He's due to hold his first news conference with reporters since the verdict on Friday morning.

"Personally, I'm very calm to be honest," said Maresca.

"The club has been quite clear. We trust completely the club.

"We understand the noise, but the focus for us is just what we can control and we can control just the football side."

Despite the guilty verdict, both chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak and CEO Ferran Soriano have insisted the club are innocent. A formal appeal has been launched.

The bulk of City's players have been away on international duty during the break. Now back at the CFA, Maresca insists they are "focused" despite intense spotlight on the Etihad Stadium.

"The feeling is fantastic, to be honest," Maresca said.

"The players are excited for the next two games. But especially they are excited because in this moment we are top of the league.

"The players are just focused on that. They know what we can control is the football side -- they are not worried at all about different things.

"They know their profession and they know that the noise is there, but they don't care too much about the noise. They are just focused in this moment on how we can beat Liverpool and how, together with the fans, we can try to win in Anfield."
