Sébastien Pocognoli claimed his first win as Scotland head coach at the third attempt as his side won 2-0 in North Macedonia.

A terrific long-range strike from Kieron Bowie and a second-half penalty by John McGinn were enough to give Scotland victory in the Nations League, one which was made only slightly less comfortable when Scott McKenna was sent off in the 83rd minute.

Scotland had to settle for a draw in Pocognoli's first game in charge against Slovenia last week, before they were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by Switzerland on Tuesday after Jack Hendry had seen red in the 11th minute.

Pocognoli was appointed as head coach in August, replacing Steve Clarke after Scotland crashed out at the group stage of the World Cup having managed just one goal and one win, over Haiti in their opening game.

With Scotland goalless in their first two Nations League games and having managed just a single shot against the Swiss, the Belgian insisted ahead of Saturday's match that he was not feeling the pressure.

Nonetheless, he will have been pleased to see Bowie's strike end a wait of 422 minutes for a Scottish goal, stretching all the way back to McGinn's deflected winner in Boston.

Saturday's victory also marked Andy Robertson's 100th game for his country, moving him to within two of fellow Liverpool great Sir Kenny Dalglish's all-time record.

It also continued a dismal run for North Macedonia, who have lost every competitive game they have played since October 2025 and have not won -- in a friendly or otherwise -- for 13 months.

Scotland, who are third in Group B1, will face Slovenia in their final game of the international break at Hampden Park on Tuesday.
