Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has been called up to replace Brian Brobbey in the Netherlands squad.
Brobbey went off in the first half of Netherlands' 1-1 draw against Germany on Thursday after going down with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.
The injury will come as a blow to Xavi, who was taking charge of his first game as the Dutch boss. Netherlands secured a late draw in Amsterdam on Xavi's debut, with Cody Gakpo scoring late on.
Brobbey's injury means he will miss Netherlands' next three Nations League fixtures -- home and away clashes against Serbia as well as the game against Greece.
The Sunderland forward went into the international break with a hat trick against Manchester City.
His replacement, Zirkzee, hasn't started a match for United this season. His last appearance for the national team came in November 2024.
Brobbey wasn't the only Premier League forward to go off injured on Thursday with Germany's Kai Havertz also being replaced after 30 minutes. Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala also had to pull out of the game after an injury in the warmups. Germany boss Jürgen Klopp said they both underwent MRI scans after the match.
