Manchester United will not have much time to recover from their controversial Premier League derby defeat to Manchester City as they host Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Michael Carrick's side fell 1-0 at home with Erling Haaland's goal proving to be the difference -- after which Pro Ref issued an apology to United, in which they admitted an "error of judgment."
While Carrick was left baffled by the decision, which he called "worrying," he will also know they failed to score against a side who had 10 men for over an hour, something he will need to fix quickly.
Meanwhile, Brighton have started the season strongly, scoring goals for fun and sit fourth in the Premier League table after four games. They will aim to maintain their form after a big 5-0 win over Coventry on Sunday.

Carrick needs to start Sesko
So far in the Premier League, Benjamin Sesko hasn't started for Manchester United with Carrick preferring Matheus Cunha up front. He eventually against Sabah FK in the Champions League and ended up scoring a goal.
It was clear in the first half against City that Manchester United's attack was not really working. Carrick should have introduced Sesko a bit earlier than bringing him in the 67th minute. The team needed an aerial threat, and the striker would've provided a direct outlet in the area.
Now that he has recovered from the shin injury he sustained last season, Sesko should start more, especially in big games. With him at the front, Manchester United can be more direct in their style with support from Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Brighton effective in front of goal
Last time out in the Premier League, Brighton put five past Coventry. Before that they scored three against Chelsea (although lost 4-3) and defeated Tromso 4-0 in the Europa Conference League playoff second leg. They opened their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa. Overall, no team has scored more goals in the Premier League this season than Brighton's 13. Safe to say, Brighton are not shy about taking their chances during the games.
It's also worth noting that they are missing some of their key attackers. Yakuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Georginio Rutter are out injured while Danny Welbeck left the club in the summer transfer window. It's a testament to Fabian Hürzeler that Brighton have been able to keep their form despite key absences. The likes of Charalampos Kostoulas, Malick Yalcouyé, Jack Hinshelwood, Yasin Ayari have stepped up to give their team the goals while veteran Pascal Gross has also been in outstanding form. Even Lewis Dunk scored a wonder goal against Coventry.
Manchester United will be a tough opponent but Brighton will bank on their scoring form and will be eager to make it to the next round of the Carabao Cup.
