Portland Thorns and United States midfielder Olivia Moultrie has been ruled out for the rest of the 2026 season with an ACL injury, the NWSL club announced Tuesday.
Moultrie, 20, suffered the injury to her right knee in training last week, the Thorns said, and had been placed on the season-ending injury list.
"Olivia is one of the most driven players I have been around, and she will use that drive during her recovery and rehabilitation," Jeff Agoos, president and general manager of soccer operations for Portland Thorns, said in a statement. "She has our full support and every resource this club can put behind her."
The news is a major blow to the Thorns, who sit fifth in the NWSL standings after 19 games. Moultrie has made 16 appearances (15 starts) this season, registering five goals and five assists.
It also means that Moulrie will miss the Concacaf W Championship, which takes place from late November to early December in Texas and serves as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Moultrie was named U.S. Soccer's Young Female Player of the Year for 2023 and has scored five goals in 18 appearances for the senior national team. She was a part of the team that won the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup.
The 2027 Women's World Cup begins on June 24 in Brazil
