Kyle Walker has insisted that he will not become "anyone's meme" as he begins his second campaign with Burnley.
Walker, 36, is determined to get promoted to the top flight again after the team were relegated from the Premier League last season.
The defender, who has won six Premier League titles with Manchester City, is aware that wingers will be targeting him and try to make him look like a fool.
"I think they try to create, what is it called, memes now?" he said. "They'll try and create memes out of me and I can assure you that I am not becoming anyone's meme.
"So when you come against me, I'll give it 100%. If you beat me on the day, you know, you shake hands at the end of the game, and you say it's a good game. I'm not going to become a meme."
Walker is heading into the Championship as one of the most decorated defenders with 96 England caps to his name before he retired in March this year.
He has previously lifted the Champions League trophy with City in 2023 and has won two FA Cups.

Walker is not close to hanging up his boots from football just yet and has expressed that motivation is not a problem for him.
"If I have to get motivated to play football, I should stay in bed in the morning. Motivation has never been a factor in it," he said.
"The only thing that I've always promised myself is that when the lightbulb switches off in my head, and that football becomes a burden, I'll stop playing football because I don't want to ruin that."
Burnley will host West Ham United on Aug. 16 for the season-opener at Turf Moor.
