PSG v Lyon
PSG beat Lyon in rescheduled match to top Ligue 1
Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts both came off the bench to score late goals as Paris Saint-Germain moved top of Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win over Lyon on Monday.
After Lyon had dug in to frustrate PSG during a goalless first half, substitute Mayulu eventually broke the deadlock 18 minutes left when he drilled a low shot inside the near post from the edge of the box.
Godts added a second in the 84th minute following another swift counter-attack as Luis Enrique's side secured fifth straight league win, which puts them a point ahead of Rennes.
The match at Parc des Princes had been originally scheduled for Sunday, but was a postponement of 24 hours was ordered by the police as the French capital braced for more violent protests and disorder.
Before kickoff, PSG fans had unfurled a huge banner along the Auteuil Stand with the words "Kvara, the red and blue people are with you" in support of winger Khvicha Kvaratskheli, who is set for a long-term layoff after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the 4-2 Champions League win over Barcelona last week.
The Ballon d'Or awards were being handed out in London as the game unfolded, with Luis Enrique a nominee for coach of the year after leading PSG to a second-straight Champions League title in 2026. However, the award went to Spain coach Luis de la Fuente.
However, Luis Enrique and PSG did receive an award at the annual gala when they were named the team of the year later in the ceremony.
Luis Enrique's side made a bright start as Lyon keeper Dominik Greif was forced into a reflex save with his foot to clear Ferran Torres' low strike off the line.
Lyon, who could also have finished the night top with a victory, went close in the 31st minute when Zachary Athekame's low, curling shot was pushed behind by PSG keeper Matvey Safonov.
The European champions stepped things up again heading towards halftime, as Maghnes Akliouche's angled drive was parried by Greif at the near post.
PSG continued to press early in the second half as first João Neves sent an acrobatic bicycle kick over and Vitinha then saw his rising shot saved.
Grief was in the right position again as the hour approached to block Torres' angled drive with his feet.
Lyon then tested Safonov again with Moussa Niakhate's header from a corner.
Luis Enrique looked to spark his side with more changes after 65 minutes, as Mayulu replaced Torres and Lucas Hernández came on for Warren Zaïre-Emery.
The substitutions had the desired impact when Mayulu broke the deadlock after 72 minutes.
Hernandez got away down the left and laid the ball off to Godts, who fed Mayulu at the edge of the penalty area, from where the 20-year-old drilled a low shot back past Grief inside the near post.
PSG made sure there would be no late drama when Godts curled in a second from the edge of the box with six minutes left following another swift counter-attack.
