10-man Lens shock PSG to win French Super Cup

Lens overcame a first-half red card for defender Kyllian Antonio to battle to a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Trophee de Champions at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Captain Florian Thauvin had given Lens, who won the Coupe de France for the first time last season, the lead against the run of play in the 32nd minute.

Antonio was then shown a straight red card after his late challenge on Maghnes Akliouche six minutes before the break.

European champions PSG, who lifted the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night after victory against Aston Vila in Salzburg -- saw a late equaliser from Fabián Ruiz ruled out for offside before substitute Nuno Mendes was also sent off with four minutes left for lashing out at Michal Skoras.

Both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were absent from PSG's squad for the match as links with a move to Liverpool surrounding the pair.

Lens won the match under new coach Dino Toppmöller, who was hired in June following Pierre Sage's departure to Crystal Palace.

Incoming France coach Zinedine Zidane was at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens for the final.
