Mac O'Keefe scored the go-ahead goal with 1:16 remaining in the game to help the Utah Archers clinch a playoff spot with a 13-12 victory over the Carolina Chaos on Friday at Harvard Stadium in Boston.
O'Keefe, who finished with a team-high five points, scored a 2-point goal, two 1-point goals and added an assist for the Archers (7-5). Sam King, playing at his alma mater's stadium, finished with three goals and an assist. Ryan Ambler and Ryan Stines each added two goals, while Piper Bond and Leo Johnson each scored once. Brett Dobson made 12 saves.
Ross Scott tallied three goals and two assists for the Chaos (5-7). Teddy Malone also recorded a hat trick and added an assist, while Chad Palumbo chipped in with two goals and an assist. Blaze Riorden stopped 11 shots.
Carolina jumped out to a 6-4 lead after the first quarter, with Scott scoring all three of his goals in the opening frame. The Archers responded with a dominant second quarter, going on a 5-0 run that included O'Keefe's 2-point strike, to seize a 9-7 halftime advantage. Carolina battled back to tie the score 12-12 on Malone's third goal of the night with 1:48 remaining, but O'Keefe delivered the final blow.
