LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- American softball player Cam Schiller was banned for three years for doping with a steroid, the International Testing Agency said Wednesday.
Schiller tested positive while playing for the United States at the 2025 Men's Softball World Cup, the ITA said, and was stripped of his bronze medal from the event as part of his punishment.
The ITA said Schiller tested positive for norandrosterone, a metabolite of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, at last year's World Cup played in Canada. He hit .450 and was selected for the all-world team.
Schiller's ban was reduced from four years to three because he "did not challenge the [violation] and agreed with the consequences," the agency said.
Schiller was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2012 and played in the minor leagues for the Spokane Indians before transitioning to softball.
He also helped the U.S. take bronze at the previous men's World Cup in 2022 played in New Zealand.
