PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles running back Saquon Barkley appears in line to play Sunday night against the host Washington Commanders.
Barkley did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and was a limited participant Friday, but he carries no designation into the game.
He entered Week 7 against the visiting Dallas Cowboys with a hamstring injury and had his back lock up on him over the course of Monday's game, forcing him to miss a portion of the second half. He played nine snaps and got the ball every time he was on the field, totaling 71 yards and a touchdown.
"I would hope so; I believe I'll be able to," Barkley said when asked after Friday's practice if he thinks he'll play against Washington. "There's one day I'm not going to be playing football. Whenever that is, I don't want to look back and be like, 'I could have given it a chance and I didn't.' It's kind of what I live by. I'm going to try my best to just keep recovering, being smart, but I like playing football, so if I have an opportunity to play, I'm going to try my best to play."
With running backs Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele all on injured reserve, Jaydon Blue and Elijah Mitchell are the Eagles' other backfield options against the Commanders.
Philadelphia again will be without its top receivers in DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) as it attempts to end a five-game slide.
Linebacker Jihaad Campbell (hamstring/quad), cornerback Jonathan Jones (hamstring) and returner/receiver Britain Covey (knee) also have been ruled out. Nolan Smith does not have an injury designation after missing last week's game with a concussion.
