New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson is expected to miss multiple weeks because of a high ankle sprain, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Henderson will not need surgery, sources told Schefter, and the Patriots are hoping that the second-year running back returns relatively soon.
Henderson suffered the injury in the second quarter of New England's victory Sunday over the Las Vegas Raiders. The injury occurred at the end of an 11-yard run when Henderson was tackled by safety Jeremy Chinn along the sideline and came up hobbling.
Henderson also missed New England's season opener last month because of an ankle injury. He has 163 yards and one touchdown on 42 carries in four games this season.
With Henderson sidelined Sunday, Corey Kiner served as New England's primary backup to starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson. Kiner rushed for 52 yards on six carries but lost a fumble, while Stevenson had 64 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
The Patriots (3-2) are likely to elevate Lan Larison from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the New York Jets (2-3) to give them a third option. Larison, who initially joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2025 out of UC-Davis, played in the 2026 season opener when Henderson was out -- totaling three offensive snaps and contributing two receptions for nine yards, while playing six snaps on special teams.
