Eagles' Ja'Quinden Jackson taken to hospital after tackle, has movement

Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja'Quinden Jackson left the field by ambulance after being injured on the opening kickoff in Saturday's preseason game against the host New England Patriots.

Jackson has strength and movement in all extremities, the team announced, adding that he was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. According to his agent, Damien Butler, a subsequent CT scan came back negative and Butler is "awake and alert."

"Tonight, above all else, we thank God that Ja'Quinden is doing well following an incredibly frightening moment during the game," Butler said in a statement obtained by ESPN. "We are extremely grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles' medical staff and the first responders whose swift actions and exceptional care supported Ja'Quinden during this critical moment."

Butler added that Jackson looks forward to rejoining his teammates when medically cleared.

Jackson was injured as his head appeared to collide with Lan Larison's leg while making a tackle on the opening kickoff. He stayed on the ground for several minutes before being stretchered into an ambulance as his concerned teammates looked on. Jackson offered a thumbs up before being driven away.

Jackson, 24, was signed by the Eagles on Aug. 10. The Arkansas product spent last season on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.
