News: 4 days agoGreen is set to play in Thursday night's preseason finale against the Patriots, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Spin: The sixth-round rookie out of Arkansas has yet to see preseason action. It appears Dillon Gabriel will start Thursday's game, but Green will see the field later on. If the Browns plan to split the halves between the two quarterbacks, Thursday's game could be a battle for a roster spot. The team will be announcing Monday whether Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders will be starting the regular season, meaning that if it plans to keep three quarterbacks Gabriel or Green will not survive August 30.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Green was selected by the Browns in the sixth round of April's draft. Green is a huge, aggressive dual-threat quarterback. He's a major threat with his legs (112-999-8 rushing last season) but a work in progress as a passer, as he completed only 61% of his passes and threw 11 INTs on only 326 attempts in 2025. Green's size and athleticism (which included a 4.36 40-yard dash at the combine) supplies him with massive upside, but he'll need to improve as a passer in order to find a starting opportunity. He'll compete for a roster spot (and perhaps a late season start or two) with Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel.
