News: 9 hours agoPerine rushed 14 times for 68 yards while catching both of his targets for 10 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-24 win over Miami.
Spin: Perine surprisingly logged one more carry than starting running back Chase Brown (13) in the contest. Additionally, although he saw two fewer targets than Brown, Perine was able to reach paydirt in the second quarter, reeling in a six-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow. Perine remains a highly valuable insurance policy for fantasy managers with Brown on their roster. Through five games, the 31-year-old has rushed 27 times for 110 yards while reeling in seven of 10 targets for 61 yards and a score.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Perine is expected to resume his role as Chase Brown's primary backup in Cincinnati. The veteran back played 31% of the Bengals' snaps last season, totaling 84 carries and 21 targets. He cleared 400 total yards for the fifth consecutive season, though he has yet to reach 200 touches in a single season in his career, nor has he produced a top-30 fantasy campaign. The 30-year-old has reached double-digit fantasy points three times over the last two seasons and would require a Brown injury in order to flirt with flex appeal. He can be left on waivers.
