News: 3 days agoPerine didn't see any action in Saturday's exhibition contest against the Bears.

Spin: The same applies to starting RB Chase Brown, which allowed the players looking to secure depth slotting behind the top duo to make their cases for roles ahead of Week 1. Perine is coming off a 2025 regular-season in which he recorded 382 yards and three touchdowns on 84 carries, while adding 17 catches for 87 yards. As long as Brown remains healthy, Perine has minimal fantasy lineup value, but in the event that Brown misses time for any reason, the former would likely be in line to claim enough volume to merit streaming consideration, though it's also possible 2025 sixth-rounder Tahj Brooks would also factor in.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Perine is expected to resume his role as Chase Brown's primary backup in Cincinnati. The veteran back played 31% of the Bengals' snaps last season, totaling 84 carries and 21 targets. He cleared 400 total yards for the fifth consecutive season, though he has yet to reach 200 touches in a single season in his career, nor has he produced a top-30 fantasy campaign. The 30-year-old has reached double-digit fantasy points three times over the last two seasons and would require a Brown injury in order to flirt with flex appeal. He can be left on waivers.
