News: 3 days agoKamara (knee) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Spin: Kamara was diagnosed with a sprained MCL a little over two weeks ago and was given a return timetable of "at least one month," according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, so it's not at all surprising to see the veteran running back still sidelined. The Saints will begin official Week 1 prep next week, and it would be somewhat shocking to see Kamara practice and be available for the season opener against the Lions. With Kendre Miller (undisclosed) also missing practice time, Audric Estime could be the backup to Travis Etienne against Detroit.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Kamara is entering his age-31 season set to play a change-of-pace role behind Travis Etienne and is unlikely to be a fantasy option. Over the past seven seasons, only two backs age 31 or older have posted a top-30 fantasy campaign, and both required 16-plus touchdowns. (Kamara hasn't cleared nine TDs since 2020 and scored once in 2025). Injuries limited Kamara to career-low marks across the board last season (including a 10% target share, considerably worse than his previous career low of 18%), and he hasn't played a full season since his rookie year (2017). A longtime fantasy star, Kamara is worth no more than a late flier.
