Barbados Tridents 120 for 6 (De Kock 44*, Holder 3-31, Naseem 2-11) beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 118 (Hasaranga 45, Green 4-20, Sams 2-21, Motie 2-30) by four wickets
Chris Green's four-wicket burst powered Barbados Tridents to a four-wicket victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their CPL 2026 match on Thursday.
The result, which took Tridents to eight points from eight matches, moved them from the bottom of the table to fourth place, while Patriots were in sixth spot after their latest loss.
Asked to bat first, Patriots struggled from the start, losing three wickets for just six runs. Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers and Andre Fletcher failed to get going, leaving Patriots in early pressure. Two of those three wickets had gone to Green. Alick Athanaze and Jason Holder attempted to rebuild, but Green continued to make crucial breakthroughs, eventually accounting for Athanaze and, not long after, Dasun Shanaka.
Patriots were in even bigger trouble at 51 for 6 in the 12th over when Holder was dismissed, before Wanindu Hasaranga produced a counter-attack. His explosive 45 from 25 balls, including four fours and three sixes, gave the innings some momentum. And though Jeremiah Louis added 12 from eight balls, all Patriots put up was 118, bowled out off the last ball of the innings.
Green returned outstanding figures of 4 for 20 from his four overs, but his impact went beyond his bowling. He also took two catches, earning Player-of-the-Match honours for an all-round contribution that proved decisive.
Tridents' chase began poorly, with Brandon King and Rivaldo Clarke dismissed inside the opening over by Holder and Zachary Carter following soon after, having become Holder's third victim. At 27 for 3, Tridents were in trouble.
However, Quinton de Kock held the innings together with an unbeaten 44 off 43 balls. Shadrack Descarte's 19 and Sherfane Rutherford's aggressive 23 from 17 balls provided valuable support, before Daniel Sams finished the chase with an unbeaten nine from four deliveries.
For Patriots, Holder claimed three wickets and Naseem Shah took two, but their batting collapse made all the difference.
