Licata throws 2 TDs in 4th; Buffalo beats Kent State 18-17
KENT, Ohio -- Joe Licata threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Matt Weiser with 58 seconds left to give Buffalo an 18-17 victory over Kent State on Thursday night.
Buffalo went for it on fourth-and-19 at midfield with 2:40 left and Kent State was called for pass interference on Licata's deep ball. Six plays later, Licata eluded pressure to get off a short pass and Weiser stretched for the touchdown.
Kent State turned it over on downs after four plays on its final possession.
Licata was 25 of 39 for 190 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for Buffalo (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American).
George Bollas had 107 yards passing and one touchdown for Kent State (3-6, 2-3).
Bollas' 31-yard touchdown pass to Ernest Calhoun gave Kent State a 17-6 lead late in the third quarter. Buffalo answered with Ron Willoughby's one-handed catch for a 29-yard touchdown to pull to 17-12 with 11:21 left.
