The Sacramento Kings are trading second-year wing Nique Clifford to the Oklahoma City Thunder for two second-round picks, league sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
In return, the Kings receive a 2028 Utah Jazz second-rounder and a 2030 Minnesota Timberwolves second-rounder out of the Thunder's deep asset cupboard, sources said.
The Kings initially acquired Clifford in the 2025 draft, trading a top-16 protected 2027 San Antonio Spurs first-round pick to the Thunder to move up to the No. 24 pick and grab Clifford. It was the first move of general manager Scott Perry's tenure.
But Clifford never caught on in Sacramento and has recently been buried in head coach Doug Christie's rotation despite injuries ahead of him, leading both sides -- the Kings' and Clifford's -- to seek a new home for the 24-year-old.
The Thunder are in need on the wing after a rash of early-season injuries. Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace, both starters, are both out for several months and perhaps the entire season. Wallace tore the labrum in his left shoulder and Williams fractured his left fibula and dislocated his left ankle in the same late October home game against the LA Clippers.
That led the Thunder to go searching for help, landing on Clifford, who is making only $3.2 million this season and $3.4 million next season. The Kings, in return, get a pair of draft assets and clear a roster spot as they search for any type of success in a 1-8 start to the season. The Thunder, despite the injuries, are 8-2.
