Spin: Irving's anticipated appearance would give Dallas an opportunity to evaluate its backcourt rotation alongside Cooper Flagg and the rest of the Mavericks' young core. The veteran guard's workload remains uncertain, but Sunday's contest could provide valuable preseason minutes as Dallas prepares for the 2026-27 regular season.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Irving missed all of last season with a torn ACL but is reportedly almost fully recovered. He rejoins a very different Mavericks team, with Cooper Flagg as the new centerpiece and both Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis traded away. Irving is a high-usage guard that adjusted his passing game to play with Doncic; he should have the chance to create more offense and thus better fantasy numbers as the lead guard next to Flagg.
