News: 7 days agoTowns contributed five points (2-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists across 15 minutes in Monday's 120-97 preseason loss to the 76ers.
Spin: Towns, who's reportedly frustrated by the lack of contract talks before the start of the 2026-27 regular season, joined the projected regular New York starters but saw limited involvement and production in a brief 15-minute cameo. There's little to take away from such a light preseason workload, and Towns remains positioned to operate as one of New York's primary offensive options once the regular season gets underway -- even if he's partly affected by contract-related issues.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Towns modified his game last season to fit in with his strong Knicks teammates, turning in his lowest scoring average (20.1 PPG) since his rookie season with his fewest 3-pointers (1.5 3PG) since 2018-19. On the positive side, Towns still has averaged more than 20 PPG in 10 straight seasons and has posted 12.4 RPG in his two seasons with the Knicks, his best marks since 2018-19. Towns also emerged in the playoffs as a strong passer that can generate big assist numbers, should the team decide to run more offense through him.
