Burries' layup with 1 second left lifts Bucks over 76ers

Brayden Burries, the No. 10 pick in this year's draft, made a driving layup with one second remaining to give the Milwaukee Bucks a 96-94 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA summer league Saturday at the Pavilion in Las Vegas.

Burries led all scorers with 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting and added four rebounds and five assists. Fellow first-round selection Nate Ament, the No. 13 pick, contributed 12 points and seven rebounds for the Bucks. Kam Jones also scored 12 points to go with a game-high four steals, while Pete Nance chipped in 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

Philadelphia was led by Gerald Ayayi, who scored 22 points. The 76ers had five players in double figures, with Nick Townsend and Dante Maddox Jr. each adding 15 points. Maddox also had five rebounds and four assists. Mylik Wilson and Isaac Johnson scored 10 points apiece.

The game was a tight affair that featured six lead changes and saw neither team establish a dominant advantage for long. The Bucks built an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 28-22, but the 76ers battled back, taking a 51-50 edge into halftime after a layup by Wilson in the final seconds of the second quarter.

Philadelphia maintained a 74-69 advantage entering the fourth quarter before Milwaukee mounted its comeback. With the game on the line, Ayayi calmly sank two free throws with nine seconds left to tie the score at 94. Following a timeout, Burries took the inbounds pass, drove to the basket and converted the winning layup.
