Donaldson powers Heat in win over Pistons

Tre Donaldson scored 13 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and finished with a double-double to lead the Miami Heat to a 101-87 comeback victory over the Detroit Pistons in their NBA summer league finale Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Donaldson orchestrated the late rally, also adding 10 assists and pulling down eight rebounds on the night. Tre White contributed 21 points, including four 3-pointers, and Ezra Ausar scored 15 points off the bench and had seven rebounds. Meechie Johnson added 13 points off the bench.

Detroit's first-round draft pick, Ebuka Okorie, led all scorers with 27 points. The guard, selected 17th in the 2026 draft, also had four rebounds and three assists. Brice Williams scored 15 points before being ejected in the fourth quarter, and Chaz Lanier chipped in with 11 points and four assists. Rookie center Ugonna Onyenso added two blocks in 22 minutes.

The Pistons controlled the game for three quarters and led by as many as 15 points, taking a 72-66 advantage into the final period. However, the Heat exploded in the fourth, outscoring Detroit 35-15 to seize control.

The contest grew contentious in the second half. Williams was assessed a flagrant foul 1 in the third quarter after a confrontation with Ausar, which resulted in double technicals. Williams was later ejected with 2:52 left in the game after receiving his second technical foul following a verbal exchange.
