Second-round pick Dillon Mitchell scored a game-high 24 points and added eight rebounds and six steals to lead the host Boston Celtics to an 87-75 victory over the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA summer league on Sunday at the Pavilion in Las Vegas.
The Celtics pulled away in the second half, turning a two-point halftime lead into a comfortable victory. John Tonje scored 17 points, Hugo Gonzalez contributed 14 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Milos Uzan chipped in with 13 points and a game-high six assists for Boston. First-round pick Chris Cenac Jr. added two points and five rebounds for the Celtics.
Liam McNeeley led the Hornets with 20 points and eight rebounds. Charlotte was undone by 24 turnovers, which Boston converted into opportunities on the other end.
Rookie first-round pick Christian Anderson, the No. 18 picked, finished with 13 points for the Hornets. Fellow 2026 first-rounder Hannes Steinbach, selected No. 14, added eight points and three rebounds.
Charlotte held a 21-17 lead after the first quarter, but the Celtics rallied to go ahead 42-40 at the half. Boston seized control in the third quarter and built its largest lead of 19 points in the fourth, fueled by Mitchell's all-around performance and the Hornets' miscues.
