LAS VEGAS -- A nightmare year continued for former UFC champion Johny Hendricks on Thursday, as he failed to make weight for his welterweight bout against Neil Magny at UFC 207.
Hendricks (17-5) came in at 173.5 pounds during the official weigh-in, 2.5 pounds over the limit. As long as Magny (18-5) agrees, Hendricks will forfeit 20 percent of his purse and the fight will go on. Magny made weight at 171 pounds.
It is the second time this year Hendricks has missed weight. He came in at 171.25 pounds for a fight against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 200 on July 9. And in October 2015, Hendricks was forced to pull out of a scheduled fight against Tyron Woodley the day before, when he was hospitalized during a failed weight cut.
In addition to the weight issues, Hendricks has lost three of his last four fights. In an interview with ESPN's 5ive Rounds podcast, Hendricks admitted he might consider retirement if he were to lose on Friday.
UFC flyweight Ray Borg (9-2) also missed weight on Thursday. The 23-year-old weighed in at 129.5 pounds, 3.5 over the 126-pound limit. It's the second time in three fights that Borg has missed weight.
