Joanna Jedrzejczyk to defend title against Valerie Letourneau at UFC 193

UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will attempt to defend her title against Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event of UFC 193 on Nov. 14.

UFC officials confirmed the 115-pound title fight on Friday.

A bantamweight title fight between Ronda Rousey (12-0) and Holly Holm (9-0) will headline UFC 193, which will take place at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, and also will be available on pay-per-view. UFC president Dana White has said he expects the card to break the all-time attendance record of 55,724 set by UFC 129 in April 2011.

Jedrzejczyk (10-0), 28, claimed the title in a dominant performance against Carla Esparza at UFC 185 in March. A native of Poland, Jedrzejczyk has a 4-0 record inside the UFC, with two knockouts.

Brazilian challenger Claudia Gadelha (13-1) was expected to challenge Jedrzejczyk next, but she is sidelined with a hand injury, according to White.

Letourneau (8-3) will ride a four-fight winning streak into the title fight. A Montreal native, Letourneau is coming off an upset win against Maryna Moroz on Aug. 23. Her three career losses have come against stiff competition, including Gadelha, Alexis Davis and Sarah Kaufman.
