A non-title heavyweight fight between former Bellator MMA champion Alexander Volkov and Cheick Kongo will headline an event on June 26 at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas.
Officials announced the bout on Tuesday. The Bellator 139 event will air on Spike TV.
Volkov (24-5) is coming off a split-decision loss to Tony Johnson less than two weeks ago at Bellator 136 in Irvine, California. The loss snapped a five-fight winning streak for Volkov.
The Russian heavyweight lost his title to Vitaly Minakov via first-round TKO in November 2013. He bounced back by winning the Season 10 heavyweight tournament last May. Bellator has since canceled its tournament format.
Kongo (22-10-2) is also coming off a split-decision loss. The French heavyweight came up short against Muhammed Lawal, a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, in February.
A near 14-year veteran, Kongo will celebrate his 40th birthday in May. He has compiled a 4-2 record since signing with Bellator in 2013.
In addition to the main event, Bellator 139 will host a lightweight bout between Dave Rickels (16-3) and John Alessio (35-17) and a featherweight bout between former champion Pat Curran (20-7) and Goiti Yamauchi (18-2).
