Houston Baptist erupts for 116 points in win over Ecclesia
HOUSTON -- Colter Lasher hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 points and Houston Baptist made quick work of Ecclesia College 116-80 on Tuesday night.
Alex Fountain nailed four from behind the arc and totaled 18 points and Josh Ibarra added 14 points and nine boards for the Huskies (2-2).
Houston Baptist controlled nearly all aspects of the game, outshooting the Royals 51.2 percent to 42.9, outrebounding them 46-33, and winning the turnover battle 17-6.
David Gaut Jr. led all scorers with 28 points for Ecclesia. Gaut Jr. finished 7 of 11 from 3-point range.
The Huskies opened on a 10-2 run, polished off by a Braxton Bonds jam, and never trailed throughout the contest. Lasher and Ibarra made back-to-back layups for a 65-42 lead early in the second half. A Fountain 3-pointer with 5:09 remaining made it 109-68, the Huskies largest lead of the night.
