Jones, Anderson score 40, lead Radford past Longwood, 90-81
FARMVILLE, Va. -- Cameron Jones and YaYa Anderson each scored 20 points and Radford posted a 90-81 Big South victory over Longwood Wednesday night.
The Highlanders took a quick 7-0 lead, but Longwood battled back to take a 21-19 lead midway through the first half. Brandon Holcomb's layup put Radford in front 25-23, and Anderson drilled back-to-back 3-pointers and Jones hit a third to make it 34-23.
Radford (13-9, 6-4 Big South) held a 42-37 advantage at intermission but the second half followed a similar script. Tra'Vaughn White's free throw with 11:10 left pulled Longwood within one, 52-51, but Ed Polite Jr. hit back-to-back layups and Rashun Davis added a third layup as Radford pulled away and sprinted to the finish.
Polite finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Radford.
White scored 28 points to lead Longwood (6-16, 2-7) and Lotanna Nwogbo added 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
