Morehead State defeats Tennessee State 80-74 in OT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Angelo Warner scored seven of his 19 points in overtime as Morehead State defeated Tennessee State 80-74 on Saturday night.
Chad Posthumus made two free throws to give Morehead State a 72-68 lead with 1:30 left in overtime. Chaed Wellian's 3-pointer pulled Tennessee State within 72-71, but Warner hit a jumper and the Eagles scored six from the line with less than a minute left to ice the game.
Brent Arrington scored five unanswered points to give Morehead State a 65-59 lead with 29 seconds to play in regulation. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Patrick Miller tied it at 65 with 17 seconds left. Arrington missed a shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.
Arrington finished with 15 points for Morehead State (14-8, 5-2 Ohio Valley Conference).
Miller scored 36 points, one shy of his career-best, to lead Tennessee State (2-21, 1-8 Ohio Valley Conference). Wellian added 11 points.
