Gardner-Webb beats Liberty 68-52
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Jerome Hill scored 13 points Tuesday and Donta Harper added 12 as Gardner-Webb dominated Liberty 68-52, handing the Flames their fifth straight loss.
Gardner-Webb (14-12, 7-4 Big South) forced 18 turnovers, had 11 steals, and outshot the flames 45 percent to 37.5 percent.
Liberty's Davon Marshall opened with a layup, but it was all Gardner-Webb after that, and the Runnin' Bulldogs ripped runs of 13-2 and 12-2 to build a 15-point lead. Naji Hibbert scored consecutive treys and Gardner-Webb led 38-19 at halftime. Liberty shot just 26.9 percent in the half.
Gardner-Webb outscored Liberty 17-10 in the first 10 minutes of the second, led by 22 at 6:26 and cruised.
Hibbert scored 11 points, Tyler Strange had five of the team's 13 assists, and Mike Byron grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots.
Tomasz Gielo led Liberty (9-17, 3-8) with 11, and Andrew Smith and John-Caleb Sanders had 10 each.
