Coastal Carolina tops Gardner-Webb 81-69
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Elijah Wilson scored 21 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Coastal Carolina to an 81-69 win over Gardner-Webb in a conference matchup Saturday night.
The Chanticleers (8-8, 1-1 Big South Conference) took control midway through the first half with a 14-3 run that included two Wilson 3-pointers and carried a 35-23 advantage into the break. Gardner-Webb (7-10, 0-2) kept pace with Coastal Carolina after the break, with both teams pumping in 46 second-half points, but the Runnin' Bulldogs couldn't erase the deficit.
Josh Cameron contributed 15 points, Uros Ljeskovic added 14, Badou Diagne had 12 and Warren Gillis 11 for Coastal Carolina, which hit 27 of 47 (57 percent) from the field and 7 of 12 from 3-point range.
The Runnin' Bulldogs got 16 points from Naji Hibbert, while Jerome Hill contributed 11 and Tyrell Nelson had 10.
