Marist 63, Canisius 53

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Louie McCroskey led all scorers with 13 points as Marist defeated Canisius 63-53 Wednesday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

With the game tied at 32 four minutes into the second half, Marist (6-3, 1-0 MAAC) got two 3-pointers from Ben Farmer during an 11-0 run that ultimately decided the game.

Farmer's second 3-pointer made it 43-32 with 11:40 remaining. Canisius (0-7, 0-1 MAAC) countered with an 8-1 run, closing to within four after Shaun James hit a pair of free throws to make the score 44-40 with 6:15 to play. But the Golden Griffins came no closer.

Marist won its fifth straight using a balanced scoring attack. David Devezin scored 10 for the Red Foxes.

Canisius, which has lost 16 of its last 17 games dating back to last season, was led by Willie Hassell with 14 points. Jovan Robinson scored 11.

The Golden Griffins are off to their worst start since 1987-88 when they began 0-8.

The game was Matt Brady's 100th as coach of the Red Foxes.
