CARBONDALE, Ill. -- — Ja'Monta Black scored 22 points and Austin Peay took down Southern Illinois 70-68 on Tuesday night.
Sai Witt made a layup with 47 seconds that put Austin Peay up for good at 68-66. DeMarcus Sharp forced a turnover on SIU's final possession with five seconds left to seal it for the Governors.
Black shot 6 for 10 from beyond the arc and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line for the Governors (6-6). Dezi Jones added 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Sharp went 6 of 19 from the field to finish with 12 points, while adding three blocks.
The Salukis (6-3) were led by Xavier Johnson, who posted 31 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Clarence Rupert added 10 points and six rebounds for Southern Illinois. In addition, Troy D'Amico had 10 points.
