Radford pulls away late, beats William & Mary 81-72
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Carlik Jones scored 21 points and Radford finished on a 12-4 surge to beat William & Mary 81-72 on Tuesday night.
Donald Hicks sparked the late run with a 3-pointer from the top of the arc to stretch Radford's lead to 72-68 with 5:18 remaining. The Highlanders (4-1) held William & Mary (1-4) from hitting a single field goal over the final 4:49, and blocked two shots and forced a turnover to secure the win.
Jones was 9 of 14 from the field and had a team-high seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Travis Fields Jr. added 12 points, and Hicks and Caleb Tanner chipped in 10 apiece for Radford.
Nathan Knight scored 32 points on 13-of-20 shooting and had nine rebounds to lead William & Mary. Chase Audige added 14 points and Jihar Williams had 10.
