Arkansas-Pine Bluff beats Mississippi Valley State 94-57
PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Martaveous McKnight scored 18 points with 7-for-11 shooting, Joe'Randle Toliver added 16 points and Arkansas-Pine Bluff cruised to a 94-57 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night.
Trent Steen had 14 points and eight rebounds and Quamauri Hardy got 13 points for Pine Bluff, which shot 52 percent and got 20 assists on its 35 baskets. Tolliver also dished out seven assists and hauled in seven rebounds.
Hardy buried a 3-pointer midway through the opening half to give Pine Bluff a 23-11 advantage and the margin stayed in double figures the rest of the way. In the second half, the Golden Lions (12-20, 12-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) continued to pull away, outscoring the Delta Devils 52-32 over the final 20 minutes, and got 34 points off 24 Mississippi Valley State turnovers overall.
Dante Scott scored 20 points to lead Mississippi Valley State (4-27, 4-14).
