Old Dominion cruises in 82-69 win over Louisiana Tech
RUSTON, La. -- Ahmad Caver had 17 points, 10 assists and six steals as Old Dominion rolled to an 82-69 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night.
Old Dominion (19-5, 10-2 Conference USA) has won six of its last eight games. The Monarchs remain tied for second place in the conference standings with Western Kentucky, which beat Florida International. Louisiana Tech (15-11, 6-7) has lost two of its last three.
Caver collected his fourth double-double of the season. B.J. Stith scored 18 points to lead Old Dominion, which shot 57 percent (30 of 53) from the floor. Trey Porter and Randy Haynes each added 16 points, with Haynes making four of the Monarchs' 10 3-pointers.
Jacobi Boykins had 20 points for Louisiana Tech.
Old Dominion built a 45-29 halftime advantage, and opened the second half on a 13-7 surge and had a 21-point lead midway through the second half. Porter scored six points, and Caver made a 3 and capped the stretch with a dunk.
