Brown downs UMass Lowell 89-75
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brandon Anderson scored 20 points and made all 12 of his free throws, Zach Hunsaker added 16 points, and Brown beat UMass Lowell 89-75 on Saturday to snap a three-game skid.
Jason Massey scored 13 points, Chris Sullivan added 11 with three 3-pointers, and the Bears (5-5) made 25 free throws and shot 52 from the field.
Ryan Jones' 3 sparked an 8-1 run and the River Hawks led 44-43 on Matt Harris' 3 early in the second half, but Brown replied with a 9-1 run in which Sullivan and Hunsaker hit 3s and led 52-46. Up four, Brown went on a 17-5 run as the River Hawks made two baskets in six minutes for a 71-55 lead. Jahad Thomas scored six points in a 9-0 run and UMass Lowell closed to 10 points, but got no closer.
Massey's go-ahead layup made it 15-13 Brown and the Bears led 42-36 at halftime behind his 10 points.
Jones scored 20 points and Harris and Thomas had 15 apiece for the River Hawks (5-5), who have lost four straight.
