Fornes has 7 in OT to lead UNC Wilmington to 73-71 win
WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Jordon Talley nailed a trey and Jaylen Fornes followed with a dunk in the final minute of overtime to give UNC Wilmington enough cushion to hold on for a 73-71 win over Towson on Saturday night.
Fornes, who scored seven of his 10 points in the extra period, hit a jumper and a 3-pointer to start overtime. His dunk with 57 seconds left gave the Seahawks the lead for good.
Towson held a 60-59 lead but missed three of four free throw attempts in the final six seconds of regulation to open the door for the Seahawks. Talley got to the free throw line and made both attempts with :04 left to send it to overtime.
Ty Taylor II had 20 points and Talley added 14 for UNC Wilmington (6-14, 3-5 Colonial Athletic Association). Marcus Bryan added eight points with 13 rebounds.
Zane Martin led Towson (14-7, 4-4) with 21 points.
