Reese leads Canisius to 71-64 win over Quinnipiac
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Isaiah Reese scored 13 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists and Malik Johnson added eight free throws down the stretch to lead Canisius to its fourth straight win, a 71-64 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon.
Jermaine Crumpton had 14 points and Johnson added 10 for the Golden Griffins.
Canisius (17-9, 11-2) has won eight of its last nine games in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Quinnipiac was up 37-36 at the 15:54 mark of the second half when Marcale Lotts slammed home a dunk and Takal Molson followed with 3-pointer to start Canisius on an 18-6 spurt to go ahead 54-43 with 7:42 remaining. Jibreel Faulkner drilled a trey and followed with a two-handed dunk to extend the lead to 62-48 with 3:48 left.
Quinnipiac's Rich Kelly nailed a 3 with 27 seconds left for the final score.
Cameron Young had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Quinnipiac (9-17, 6-8). Chase Daniels added 12 points which gave him 1,000 points for his career.
