Pepperdine downs Cal Lutheran 107-82 behind Edwards, Dunn
MALIBU, Calif. -- Kameron Edwards scored his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead five teammates in double figures and Pepperdine won its home opener 107-82 over Division III member Cal Lutheran on Tuesday night.
Darnell Dunn scored 18 points, Nolan Taylor had 15, Matthew Atewe added 12, and Trae Berhow and Knox Hellums had 11 apiece.
Hellums and Kameron Edwards hit 3s amid a 10-0 run and Pepperdine led 79-54 with 11:55 to play in the second half. Harrison Meads' free throw gave the Waves a 100-78 lead and Pepperdine scored 100 points for the first time since 2008, when they beat Hope International 118-76 on Jan. 8.
Colbey Ross (eight assists) put Pepperdine (1-1) up for good 6-5 with a layup and the Waves led 59-42 at halftime behind Taylor's 11 points. Pepperdine shot 57.5 percent from the field in the half while holding the Kingsmen to 46.7 percent.
Kyle Ferreira scored 21 points with five 3-pointers and Blake Miles added 11 points for Cal Lutheran, who played it as an exhibition.
