Efianayi scores 31 as Gardner-Webb defeats Howard
INDIANAPOLIS -- David Efianayi scored a career-high 31 points and Gardner-Webb defeated Howard 94-78 in the consolation game of the 2K Classic subregional on Saturday.
Efianayi hit 10 of 13 shots as the Bulldogs (1-3) shot 58 percent. Laquincy Rideau was 8 of 13 for 19 points. Both made 3 of 4 on 3-pointers as Gardner-Webb made 10 of 12 behind the arc. Efianayi also made 8 of 10 from the foul line, although the Bulldogs were just 12 of 21 on free throws.
James Miller had three baskets behind the arc and scored 25 points for Howard (0-4) with Solomon Mangham adding 19 points and Damon Collins 18. Howard shot 41 percent from the field but kept it respectable, falling behind 46-36 at the half, by making 29 of 36 free throws.
Miller's 3-point play got the Bison within three early in the second half but the Bulldogs steadily pulled away after that.
